Speech is free to start on all of them, and unlimited on Android. Your dictionary, snippets and writing styles follow your account, not the machine.

  1. Speech for iPhone is built and going through App Store review.
  2. It is a keyboard: one microphone, no QWERTY to get in the way.
  3. It writes Roman Hinglish, the same as every other Speech app.
  4. Your dictionary, snippets and styles come with your account.
  5. Use Mac, Windows or Android in the meantime.

It asks for two
permissions, and
both are the point.

Speech needs the microphone to hear you, and it needs permission to type into other applications so your words arrive where you were already working instead of in a window you have to copy from. On macOS that second one is Accessibility. Nothing is dictated until you hold your shortcut.

A few good questions.

Why does Windows warn me about the installer?

Because it is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen cannot name the publisher. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The installation help walks through it.

Why does the Mac app want Accessibility permission?

So it can type your words into whichever application you are using. Without it, Speech can hear you but has nowhere to put the result.

Does Speech work offline?

No. Recognition and cleanup run online. Privacy Mode changes what is kept afterwards; it does not move the recognition onto your machine.

How do updates work?

Mac and Windows update themselves from inside the app. Android updates through Google Play.

Can I use one account on several devices?

Yes. Sign in on each of them and your dictionary, snippets and writing styles are already there.

When is the iPhone app out?

It is built and going through App Store review. Until it clears, Mac, Windows and Android are all available.
